Logan County Sheriff’s investigators are searching for the driver who struck an 81-year-old man whose body was found Friday morning in a ditch along County Road 11.
Won B. Cha, 81, was struck by a car while he was walking along the highway. A motorist who spotted his body called dispatchers around 6 a.m.
“We’re looking for a white-colored vehicle, potentially with damage on the front bumper and the front passenger side fender,” said Chief Deputy Christopher Prickett of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said they believe Cha was struck by a car around 8:20 p.m. Thursday when there were periods of intermittent snowfall.
“He had dark-colored clothing on, appears he was walking on the edge of the roadway so it was probably difficult to see him,” Prickett said.
However, Prickett said he has no doubt the driver is aware of the crash.
“They certainly knew they hit something, yes, just because of the debris we have at the scene we believe they certainly knew they hit something,” he said.
Cha was found within two miles of his home.
“We’re not sure where he was going to at that time of night, why he was walking out on the roadway,” Prickett said.
Including this incident, Prickett said it is the 12th fatal crash in Logan County this year.
