KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Air Force One is scheduled to arrive at Kansas City International Airport shortly before 11 a.m. Friday as President Donald Trump is set to speak at a national law enforcement conference in downtown Kansas City.
The president will speak to police and prosecutors from federal, state and local levels at the Project Safe Neighborhoods Conference just before noon. You can watch the speech live on 41 Action News.
Drivers around the Westin and Crown Center area can expect street closures from roughly 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday.
- Grand Boulevard will be closed between 22nd Street and 25th Street;
- Pershing Road will be closed from Grand to Kessler;
- Main Street will be closed from 20th Street to Memorial Drive
Project Safe Neighborhoods is a Department of Justice initiative to help police officials across the country collaborate on ways to reduce violent crime.
The acting and deputy US attorneys general spoke during the first two days of the three-day conference. President Trump will end the conference.
Items the president may speak about include immigration, Russia and the United Nations.
The president has repeatedly pushed for adding border security in an attempt to keep potential criminals from entering the United States.
Early Friday morning, the president tweeted about the investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 election.
And several agencies expect Trump to announce Heather Nauert as the new ambassador to the United Nations Friday.
Trump will spend about three hours in Kansas City before returning to Washington, D. C.
