A man who died Monday night at a Northeast Side apartment complex has been identified.
Sanjay Karki, 32, was pronounced dead from apparent gunshot wounds at 10:41 p.m., Columbus police said.
The Dispatch originally reported the incident as a stabbing based on police scanner traffic, but Columbus police issued a news release Tuesday that clarified the homicide was actually a shooting.
Columbus police responded to a shooting at 4638 Tamarack Blvd. at 10:33 p.m. Tuesday and found Karki lying unresponsive on the steps of a building at the Northern Isles apartment complex.
Witnesses said they overheard an argument between several people moments before shots were fired, police said.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
Karki’s death is the city’s 50th homicide this year.
