A second day of searching Wednesday has thus far failed to turn up a missing Columbus teenager who disappeared in the Kokosing River in Knox County.

Narayan Darnal, 15, had been swimming in the river with two other teens and one adult before he was reported missing at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday in an area of Honey Run Park near Millwood. His parents provided his identify to several news organizations; Knox County Sheriff David Shaffer has declined to identify the missing boy.

Darnal, who is from Nepal, just completed eighth grade at Mifflin Middle School and was to be a rising freshman at Northland High School, according to Scott Varner, a spokesman for Columbus City Schools.

Boat crews and divers searched the river for a second day on Wednesday, but the teen has still not been found. Crews involved in the search have included Eastern Knox County Fire District, Fredericktown Community Fire Department, Fredericktown EMS and Coshocton County.

Mark Booth, 40, of Mount Vernon, died last Thursday while tubing in about the same area of the river. His body was recovered on Friday about a mile downstream from where he was reported to have disappeared.
