Five injured in multi-vehicle accident on I-270 south ramp to I-70

The entrance ramp from southbound Interstate 270 to Interstate 70 on the East Side remains closed Friday evening by a multi-vehicle crash with at least five injured, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 6:02 p.m. and tied up traffic on I-270 between I-70 and East Main Street, according to Columbus police and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Police dispatchers said at least three children were transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in stable condition. One of them was a 3-year-old boy with a broken leg who was restrained in a car seat in a vehicle that sustained heavy damage. An adult was transported in stable condition to Mount Carmel East hospital. At least one individual was treated at the scene for minor injuries. 

No other details about the crash were immediately available.
