The Union County sheriff’s office says a man was killed Thursday after falling off a ladder at New Day Farms.
Deputies responded to the 20000 block of Powder Lick Road in York Township just after 1:30 p.m. Investigators say the victim, only identified as an adult male about 25 years old, fell approximately 15 feet to the ground off a motorized ladder.
A preliminary investigation found the man was repairing a manure transport belt in a barn.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the Union County coroner was called to the egg-producing operation. Officials say an autopsy will be performed Friday.
The man still hadn’t been positively identified as of Friday morning but it was determined that he had worked at the farm for four years.
The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office, coroner’s office, the federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
