Former Republican Congressman Pat Tiberi has been named to Ohio Dominican University’s Board of Trustees.

Tiberi, now the president and CEO of the Ohio Business Roundtable, retired as representative of Ohio’s 12th District in January 2018 after serving 17 years in the U.S. House of Representatives.

A lifelong Catholic, Tiberi will join the board of the private Catholic university for his first meeting on Sept. 27, the university announced in a Monday news release.

Tiberi brings a “wealth of experience” to the board, particularly in business and economic development, board chair Matt Yuskewich said in the news release.

“Through his many years of dedicated public service, Pat has demonstrated exceptional leadership and business acumen that has allowed Central Ohio communities to grow and neighborhoods to thrive, and he created an environment in which new and existing businesses can flourish,” Yuskewich said.

Tiberi, a 1985 graduate of Ohio State University, said joining Ohio Dominican’s board is “a tremendous privilege.”

“My parents instilled in me a deep appreciation of the importance of education, and to now be provided an opportunity to have a role in impacting the education of others is a humbling honor,” Tiberi said in the news release.
